The multi-billion-dollar transformation of North Sydney into a new CBD precinct is underway, with 20,000 additional workers set to join the suburb by 2036, alongside 17,000 square metres of new parks, plazas and laneway networks.
Central to the suburb’s changing landscape is AURA – a mixed-use tower by Aqualand comprising North Sydney’s largest new residences. The $1 billion development with harbour views combines residential, retail and commercial, with a vision to foster the community’s future and carve a dramatic new identity for North Sydney.
The building will feature 386 apartments spanning one to four bedrooms, with architecture by Woods Bagot. Woods Bagot principal Jason Fraser says the global architecture firm was attracted to the project as a landmark development for North Sydney, where residential projects of this scale are unlikely to be created again.
“The city is making a strong move to becoming a growing CBD, so as a result there’s limited residential development that’s going to happen in the city,” says Fraser.
